The Impact of Electronic Health Records on Patient Care in the US Healthcare System

Abstract

Patient care has undergone a substantial transformation as a result of the US healthcare system’s implementation of Electronic Health Records (EHRs). This study explores the complex effects of EHRs on several facets of patient outcomes and healthcare delivery. Full insights have been obtained to investigate the effects of EHR deployment using data analysis methods in the Jupyter Notebook environment. Improved communication and care coordination between healthcare providers has a significant benefit. EHRs make it easier for information to be shared seamlessly, which lowers the risk of medical errors and encourages a more patient-centered approach to care. Additionally, a continuum of care is ensured by the easy availability of patient information across various healthcare facilities, which enhances treatment results and patient satisfaction. The efficiency benefits of using EHRs are also highlighted in the study. By streamlining administrative procedures, the digitization of health records frees up more time for medical staff to oversee patient care. Furthermore, decision support tool integration with EHR systems provides physicians with up-to-date information, bolstering evidence-based practices and eventually improving the standard of care. However, difficulties with data privacy and interoperability are recognized, emphasizing the necessity of ongoing work to improve EHR systems. In summary, this study sheds light on the revolutionary effects of electronic health records (EHRs) on patient care within the United States healthcare system. It highlights the significance of continuous improvements and all-encompassing approaches to tackle current obstacles and maximize the possible advantages of implementing EHRs.
