Abstract

This paper examines the relationship between criminology and its auxiliary criminal sciences, specifically focusing on forensic psychiatry, forensic medicine, forensic criminal investigation, and criminal policy science. The objective is to explore how these interdisciplinary connections contribute to a more comprehensive understanding of crime, criminal behavior, and effective justice practices. Forensic psychiatry provides insights into offenders’ mental health, aiding in assessments for sentencing and rehabilitation. Forensic medicine offers biological evidence critical to understanding violent crime, while forensic criminal investigation supplies empirical data through evidence collection and crime scene analysis, enriching criminological research. Criminal policy science translates criminological findings into actionable policies, promoting crime prevention and public safety. Together, these fields enhance the precision and impact of criminology, enabling a multifaceted approach that addresses the psychological, biological, social, and policy related dimensions of crime. This interdisciplinary framework supports criminal justice systems in making informed, evidence based decisions, fostering a more adaptive and responsive approach to crime prevention, investigation, and rehabilitation. By highlighting the value of integrating criminology with auxiliary sciences, the paper underscores the importance of collaborative efforts to advance the effectiveness and fairness of the criminal justice system.
