Drug addiction is a complex, chronic, and relapsing disorder with profound personal, social, and public health consequences. This
presentation examines the multifaceted nature of substance use disorders, exploring biological, psychological, and socio-environmental factors that contribute to addiction. Emphasis is placed on the neurobiological basis of dependence, patterns of use, and the impact on individuals, families, and communities.
The presentation also reviews evidence-based approaches to rehabilitation, including pharmacological treatments, behavioral therapies, harm reduction strategies, and holistic models of care. Challenges such as stigma, limited access to services, relapse risk, and cooccurring mental health conditions will be highlighted.
