Coarctation of AORTA – A Case History

Abstract

We present a case of coarctation of aorta (CoA) in an adult female. The patient is 23 years old medical student and she is a female with no other significant complaints prior to her diagnosis. She is an athlete and sports person. She practiced Shuttle badminton with vigorous physical exercise to develop her stamina. She continually played the game with no clinical findings. She realized that she is gaining weight which did not respond to her strict exercise schedule. The patient went for clinical advice for her obesity and accidentally she was diagnosed to have very high Blood Pressure(180/110mm). Her endocrine profile and other parameters were analyzed which were found to be normal. She was diagnosed to have coarctation of Aorta. (Severe post-subclavian coarctation of Aorta)
