Native Tricuspid Valve Endocarditis in A Non-Intravenous Drug User

Abstract

We report a case of staphylococcal tricuspid valve endocarditis in a young patient with no history of intravenous drug abuse. Echocardiography revealed two large vegetations, one on each of the lateral and septal cusps of the tricuspid valve complicating an asymptomatic peri-membranous ventricular septal defect with a closing pseudomembrane and a left to right shunt. Treatment with intravenous antibiotics resulted in significant improvement in symptoms and patient was discharged home 
on I.V antibiotics after two weeks of admission.
