A Study on Neo-Freudians-Part 1

Abstract

Freudian libido and instinct theories were the pioneer philosophies of classical psychoanalysis. However, ego-psychology, object- relations theory, developmental psychology and self- psychology- all these psychoanalytical theories along with psychodynamic psychiatry, are, by and large, making their way into the realm of modern psychiatry ; fundamentally by modifying the classical Freudian doctrines, although respectfully safeguarding the bonafide Freudian original concepts. This article sheds light on some of the theories of prominent Neo- Freudians. Nevertheless, the neurobiological bases of these theories are tenuously questionable, hence prompting a good amount of further study and research.
