Abstract

Barriers are defined as the constraints imposed by nature in a particular area, which humans are powerless to overcome or have limited opportunities to address. Challenges, on the other hand, are defined
as irrational patterns of behavior in the way humans utilize natural resources. These behaviors and patterns can sometimes be changed quickly, while others require a long time for human groups to accept
changes in their behavior and approach to the resource. The topic of barriers and challenges in water resource management in the world’s river basins, including those in Morocco, has garnered significant
attention from researchers in the natural sciences, including geography. The development of many countries begins with the search for their natural resources, perhaps the most important of which is water.
We are still looking for the best ways to manage this resource, which is thought to be the cornerstone of sustainable development. However, this search is hindered by a number of natural barriers, including
climate change, drought, and desertification, as well as issues pertaining to human conduct, such as waste, pollution, household and industrial consumption, and irrigation techniques. We see a collection of
common barriers and issues at both the national and local levels, including drought and the rising demand for water resources for drinking, irrigation, and pollution control. There are also issues unique to our study region, such as desertification, which poses a threat to water infrastructure and agricultural land that is susceptible to sand invasion from many directions. This resource, seen as the cornerstone of sustainable development, is still being sought after the best management strategies. However, this search is made difficult by a variety of natural challenges, including desertification, drought, and climate change, as well as issues pertaining to human behavior, such irrigation techniques, household and industrial consumption, waste, and pollution. We see a common set of challenges and barriers at both the national and local levels, including drought and the growing need for water resources, whether for drinking, irrigation, or pollution management. Our study area faces unique challenges, such as desertification, which poses a threat to agricultural areas and water infrastructure that are susceptible to sand encroachment from all sides.

Whether it’s for drinking, irrigation, or pollution management, we see a common set of challenges and problems, like drought and the growing demand for water resources, at the national and local levels. Additionally, our research region has unique difficulties, such as desertification, which puts water infrastructure and agricultural lands at risk from sand invasion from various angles.
